Patricia Ann Whitlow

Patricia Ann Whitlow died August 3rd just days before her 74th birthday after a struggle with pneumonia. She had been a resident at Cameron Glenn Health Center in Reston, VA. She was born August 25th, 1938 in Kessler, WV, the only daughter of Reverend Joseph Arlie and Louise Whitlow. Later they discovered Patty, as she was called, was born with Cerebral Palsy which prohibited her from getting a formal education. But, due to her perseverance, Patty accomplished many things that others said she could not. When she wanted to have her own apartment at age 47, she had just that. Living at Russell House in Norfolk, VA, she would push a cart down the busy highway to do her errands. She was most proud that she had her family over for a Thanksgiving dinner. Patty made an impression on all she touched and to the many who took care of her needs. She liked to tell jokes and laugh, as she wanted to be a part of whatever was going on. She liked to travel and even went to Israel. She took catechism and was confirmed at the Community Church. Her life was a testimony of her faith in Jesus Christ and her love for others. She is survived by her two brothers, Arlie and George Whitlow, her sister-in-laws, Jerri & Wendy Whitlow. Other family members include nieces and nephews, Graham Whitlow, Loree Rusk, Adreanne Dietrich, Arlie Whitlow III, Charlie Whitlow, Gareth Whitlow, Joshua Whitlow and Tristan Whitlow. Also survived by Aunt Dot, Aunt Effie, Uncle Dick, Aunt Aimee and Uncle Jim, who provided much love and care for Patty. She is survived by many other loving cousins and friends. August 11th at 1pm a viewing will be held at the Community Church 19790 Ashburn Road, Ashburn, Virginia 20147 and a 2pm memorial service will be held directly following.
