Nicholas P. Giampietro, Sr.

Nicholas P Giampietro passed away peacefully on April 18, 2012. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Arlene Carey Giampietro to whom he was married for 53 years before Arlene passed away in 2009. Nick was born in Birdsboro, PA on October 11, 1937, the son of the former Gaetano and Filomena Losa Giampietro. He is survived by three brothers: Charlie, Frank and Sam. He enlisted in the United States Navy as soon as he was eligible and served his country faithfully for 24 years, achieving the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. Following his retirement from the Navy, he worked for many years as a Security Officer. At the time of his death, he was employed by L3 Airborne Technologies. Nick enjoyed many activities such as: gardening, bowling, golfing and cooking. He loved watching Washington Redskins games and John Wayne movies on television. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Nick is survived by four sons: Nicholas P Giampietro, Jr. and his wife, Alison, of Hanover PA; Michael L Giampietro and his wife, Leslie of Manassas, VA; Charles W Giampietro and his wife, Barbara of Las Vegas NV; and Joseph A Giampietro of Sterling VA. He is also survived by his two daughters, Lisa A Allison and Angela M DuPlis and her husband, Chris. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Abigail Curtis and her husband, Darrell; Audrey Farley and her husband, Matthew; Bradley Giampietro and his wife, Sarah; Aaron Allison; Angela Allison; Brogan Giampietro; Brooke Giampietro; Chucky Giampietro; Zoe Giampietro; MaKayla Giampietro; Joseph Giampietro; Emily Giampietro; and Nicholas Giampietro. He also had three cherished great-grandchildren; Grace, Luke and Henry.

Family and friends are invited to share the memories on Monday, April 23, 2012 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Rd NE, Leesburg, VA 20176. A visitation will be held on Tuesday morning, April 24, 2012 between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 46833 Harry Byrd Highway, Sterling, VA 20164 with a Mass starting at 11:00 a.m.

A graveside service is scheduled for August 28, 2012 starting at 11:00 a.m. in the Arlington National Cemetery.
